DIY Recipe Card Holder
When you're in the kitchen cooking up a storm, sometimes it's hard to keep your recipe cards clean. Accidents happen and things can get messy, especially when little kids are helping out! When my girls were little, I had SO many empty baby food bottles and I didn't want to throw them away. There HAD to be something we could use them for! I started buying baby food in those little plastic containers with the lids and they came in handy to store a variety of small things such as beads, safety pins, buttons and much more. The question still remained....What do you do with the left over glass bottles?

Classic Cable Chevron Afghan
4 years ago, my youngest sister asked me to make an afghan that she could give her mother in law for Christmas. I had designed the Ribbon Candy Afghan for her son a year or so before and she wanted me to make another one.
Here's the thing... I rarely make the same thing more than once. I have so many ideas in my head for new designs that I'm afraid if I started making something a 2nd time, I'd drag my feet wishing I could be creating something new. I think she actually laughed at me when I told her I'd design her a new afghan but wouldn't make the one she wanted.
Little did I know... this new afghan I'd be designing would become one of my best selling crochet patterns. Hundreds and hundreds of crocheters have already enjoyed this pattern and I hope you'll enjoy it too! **Limited time** special on the Classic Cable Chevron Afghan pattern below.

I have to say, I don't have many crochet books by other designers but I absolutely love the ones I do have.
Crochet by Jennifer recently released another beautiful crochet pattern book and I received a copy to review. This is not a paid review. All opinions are my own and honest thoughts. Let's dive in and show you why I think you'll love this book as much as I do!
Baby & Kids Crochet Style is really an extension of Jennifer's first book Crochet Style. If you already own Crochet Style, you know you won't be disappointed in the Baby & Kids book. Both books are beautifully done with detailed step by step instructions, amazing photos and a wonderful selection of styles and sizes. Don't let the name "Baby & Kids" fool you! This book has a fantastic selection of designs for infants and kids while also including instructions that can be worked for larger sizes too.
Here's what I love...
Finished size: 48" x 72" OR easily customize to your desired size

Patriotic Archway Throw
I love the look and feel of rustic Patriotic colors! They take my mind back to the days when people journeyed to this country in hopes of living a better life.
The warmth of these colors bring such a comforting and welcome feeling to my home. I just want to wrap up in them and read a good book, watch a great movie or pick up more yarn and just snuggle while working on another crochet pattern.
Recently, I created a poll on Crafting Friends Designs Facebook page and in my Facebook group to see what YOU wanted to work as a CAL. The majority vote was for the Patriotic Throw and I can wait to get started with you! Click the links above to follow me on Facebook and join my crochet group to stay in the loop.
Since throws, afghans, blankets (whichever you prefer calling them) typically take a while to crochet, I'm breaking this crochet - a - long down to make it easy to follow.

This is a great way to learn how to read charts while working row by row! It is a simple pattern and the chart rows are in color to help see where each stitch is placed more easily.

Hey there! Thank you for joining my blog here at Crafting Friends Designs. Grab your hook, some yarn and get comfy as we crochet some fun, unique and beautiful projects together.
I'm Kate and crochet is my passion. I've been crocheting for 30+ years and as you can see from the selection of designs on my site, blankets are my obsession. I absolutely love creating something that will wrap my love around friends and family when they're in need of comfort.
Having 4 beautiful girls of my own has also inspired many infant, toddler and child size dresses. They are my biggest cheerleaders and have enjoyed wearing the things I've made them.
