Get your handmade holiday started by joining our 12 weeks of Christmas crochet blog hop!
Free crochet patterns that are great for gift giving

Every holiday, crafters feel the time crunch and rush to get their handmade gifts finished in time for gift giving.  I've teamed up with a great group of crochet designers who will be offering some wonderful free crochet patterns over the next 12 weeks to help you out.  Typically during these events, you see a LOT of cold weather patterns that are great unless you live in warm weather climates.  In this blog hop, you'll see a variety of designs for everyone!

How the 12 weeks of Christmas blog hop works

Each Sunday, a new crochet pattern will be posted on a different blog.  The schedule is posted below showing which day each designer will post.  I know it's hard to keep track on things like this and sometimes you may not see the event until after it's already started.
To keep you updated with all the designers and patterns, I'll be updating this post each week to include links to the new patterns offered.  By doing so, you'll be able to find all the patterns easily!

Baby & Kids Crochet Style Book Review

**This post contains affiliate links**

I have to say, I don't have many crochet books by other designers but I absolutely love the ones I do have.
Crochet by Jennifer recently released another beautiful crochet pattern book and I received a copy to review.  This is not a paid review.  All opinions are my own and honest thoughts.  Let's dive in and show you why I  think you'll love this book as much as I do!

Baby & Kids Crochet Style is really an extension of Jennifer's first book Crochet Style. If you already own Crochet Style, you know you won't be disappointed in the Baby & Kids book. Both books are beautifully done with detailed step by step instructions, amazing photos and a wonderful selection of styles and sizes.  Don't let the name "Baby & Kids" fool you!  This book has a fantastic selection of designs for infants and kids while also including instructions that can be worked for larger sizes too.

Here's what I love...

Patriotic Archway Throw

I love the look and feel of rustic Patriotic colors!  They take my mind back to the days when people journeyed to this country in hopes of living a better life.
The warmth of these colors bring such a comforting and welcome feeling to my home.  I just want to wrap up in them and read a good book, watch a great movie or pick up more yarn and just snuggle while working on another crochet pattern.

Recently, I created a poll on Crafting Friends Designs Facebook page and in my Facebook group to see what YOU wanted to work as a CAL.  The majority vote was for the Patriotic Throw and I can wait to get started with you!  Click the links above to follow me on Facebook and join my crochet group to stay in the loop.

Since throws, afghans, blankets (whichever you prefer calling them) typically take a while to crochet, I'm breaking this crochet - a - long down to make it  easy to follow.

Patriotic Archway Throw Crochet A Long Details

Here are the details of the CAL
DATES: September 17th - 27th
Each day, 1 set/row of written instructions and the same set/row of stitch chart instructions will be added to the pdf.  The updated pdf will be uploaded daily by 10am MST to Ravelry for easy access

I will be available in my Facebook Group  here:
www.facebook.com/groups/531832953690041
to help answer any questions you might have.  Join NOW to follow along and see everyone's work!

This is a great way to learn how to read charts while working row by row!  It is a simple pattern and the chart rows are in color to help see where each stitch is placed more easily.

CAL Schedule:
Wednesday 9/12/18: Materials are listed below in this post

Fun and Different Rope Edge to Border Your Blankets.

Rope Edging Crochet Border

Do you ever debate over adding a crochet border to your afghan projects?  Sometimes you just need a simple single crochet around it to tidy it up.  Sometimes, a nice lace pattern adds just the right touch.  Borders can be simple and yet add enough to the project that you don't want to go without them.

When working textured crochet designs, I always add a border but often struggle when deciding which style to choose.  I don't want the the border to take away from the texture, I want it to compliment it.

    Author

Hey there!  Thank you for joining my blog here at Crafting Friends Designs. Grab your hook, some yarn and get comfy as we crochet some fun, unique and beautiful projects together.
I'm Kate and crochet is my passion.  I've been crocheting for 30+ years and as you can see from the selection of designs on my site, blankets are my obsession.  I absolutely love creating something that will wrap my love around friends and family when they're in need of comfort.
Having 4 beautiful girls of my own has also inspired many infant, toddler and child size dresses.  They are my biggest cheerleaders and have enjoyed wearing the things I've made them.
