With all the Christmas Tree Skirt crochet patterns that I've designed (found HERE), I've wanted to create coordinating Christmas Stockings but haven't had the time.  A few weeks ago, I had an "Ah Ha" moment and decided that for the joys of little kids, I needed to design a Basic Christmas Stocking that would be easy to customize.  It may be hard to find just the right Christmas stocking that every little child wants as theirs but we have SO many wonderful Appliques that can help solve that problem.  ​

Now that you've had a glance at some amazing options, whip out your yarn and enjoy crocheting your own unique Christmas stockings for those you love!

My thought behind this pattern is simply Service.  I really enjoy service projects through the holiday season especially.  Kids have my heart and my goal this year is to crochet as many Christmas stockings as I can and hopefully have them filled with goodies and gifts for kids who are in our local foster system.  When I reached out to our local Little Lambs Foundation to see if they thought this would work, they let me know that they're excited for this option.  They host a Christmas event for Foster kids each year and this would be a great addition for their event.  I can't imagine how hard the holidays are for these kids!!
They let me know that they are including low income families this year so the total they're expecting is between 200-250 kids.  That is a big undertaking for me to do alone as I work full time and have a husband and kids to take care of too.  So, I've asked some other ladies in my community and church for their help and hopefully we'll not only be able to crochet enough stockings but fill them too.
 
This Basic Christmas Stocking crochet pattern has been created to be quick and easy with the ability to add appliques or embellishments to make them fun and unique for kids of all ages.  Something to put a smile on their face in a time of struggle.  Something of their own to know that they matter, they are important and they are loved.

Are you ready for another fun blanket crochet pattern?  This is another one that I designed years ago that ended up in a tote when I started working full time.  Originally, I made it in full pink for a baby gift.  I would work on it late at night after everyone went to bed and I could watch a movie or listen to a book while crocheting without any distractions.  When I finally pulled that pink baby blanket out of the tote to take photos, I noticed that the shades of pink were slightly off - Ugh!!  
Not to worry though, it gave me a good opportunity to crochet another one, double check the instructions and work it in stripes.  This is another fun project that could be worked in a variety of colors or a rainbow of stripes and all of them would look great!

Last year, I wanted to design something new with the Kenitra stitch but I also wanted something with texture.  I played around with the stitch and came up with the Textured Ribbon Candy Stitch that I used in the Textured Ribbon Candy Christmas Tree Skirt pattern.  The blanket was designed first but somehow I missed releasing it. 
It's a really simple repeat section that can be worked quickly once you understand the stitch placement.  It has a wonderful texture and is so comfy to wrap up in!

With Color A (Main)
Row 1: Work a HDC foundation chain of 197 or work in multiples of 3 +1 to desired length
If you prefer a basic chain, chain 199, turn, hdc in 3rd chain from hook and each ch across ending with 197 hdc or work in multiples of 3 to desired length​

Row 2 Color A: Turn, ch 1, Br St in first st, skip next 3 sts, *Br St in next st, skip next 3 sts,* repeat from * to * across to end st, sc in end st, insert a stitch marker in end loop of Color A to hold its place

Row 2 Color B: Beginning on the opposite end of blanket from where you ended Color A, attach color B with a sl st to beginning ch-1 of Color A, ch 3, sc in top of ch-2 of Br St, sc in next 3 dc, *ch 2, sc in top of ch-2 of next Br St, sc in next 3 dc,* repeat fom *to* across, insert a stitch marker in end loop of Color B to hold its place

Row 3 Color A: Remove stitch marker of Color A, turn, insert your hook in 1st sc of Color B, grab end loop of Color A and pull through, tighten yarn to height of Color B row, ch 1, Br St in 1st sc of Color B, FPsc around 3rd dc of Color A Br St of previous row, *ch 2, 3 dc around next ch-2 of Color B, FPsc around 3rd dc of Color A Br St,* repeat from *to* across, insert a stitch marker in end loop of Color A to hold its place 

Row 3 Color B: Remove stitch marker from Color B, insert hook in Color B end loop, ch 3, sc in top of ch-2 of Br St, sc in next 3 dc, *ch 2, sc in top of next ch-2, sc in next 3 dc,* repeat fom *to* across, insert a stitch marker in end loop of Color B to hold its place
