2018 is THE year for beautiful and fun textured crochet designs!  We started off with the Cabled Zig Zag Scarf and I'm THRILLED to show you the next design in this collection.  The Cabled Zig Zag Bag is absolutely stunning in a solid neutral color.  It can help you feel a little more put together whether you're out for a night on the town or need something elegant to carry your things in for your wedding day.  Worked in an array of colors, you can also enjoy this bag for a casual outing with friends or use it as a project bag.  No matter what you choose to use it for, you're sure to get compliments on your work!

FREE Bubble Scrubbie Crochet Pattern

Do you ever get tired of buying facial scrubbies, kitchen scrubbies or bathroom scrubbies?
With the high chance of bacteria growth, we should throw them out more often than we want and replace them with fresh, clean new ones.

I have a quick and easy solution for you!
We all have scrap yarn left from other projects and the Bubble Scrubbies is a great way to use up that extra cotton in your stash.
With just 60-80 yards of your favorite cotton yarn and a few simple crochet stitches, you can whip one of these scrubbies up in a jiffy!
A fun option for this project is to add a few to a small basket with some bath products to give as gifts to friends and family.  You could even add a small bar of soap to the scrubbie prior to completing it so it's already to go!

Braided Cable Tutorial for the
Cabled Zig Zag Crochet Pattern Collection

Picture
Don't you just love the look of cables and braids or the amazing texture that post stitches can give to crochet projects?  I absolutely love texture!  I love the look of it, I love designing it and I love running my hand across the projects.  What I don't like is the gaps that you get when working post stitches.  Sometimes it's ok and sometimes we want those gaps but sometimes it's nice to have a smooth solid piece.

In 2017, I designed the Braided Cable Block Collection for my nephew which included a Throw, Bolster pillow, Square pillow and Rectangle pillow.  It was beautiful and he and his new wife absolutely loved it.  The only thing that I didn't like about it was the ridges on the wrong side of the work that you get when working post stitches.  I wanted a solution but I knew that it wouldn't be easy to explain in terms that everyone can understand.
In the new Cabled Zig Zag Crochet Pattern Collection, I've included the written instructions for how to work the new dc/FPtrTOG to create a smooth and solid section when working post stitches.  There are also many, many stitch placement photos to help along the way.  I know that many of you learn well from photos but many of you learn well from video tutorials so to help you even more (just in case), I've created a video tutorial that can easily be viewed below.

I hope that you will try something new if you haven't worked cables before.  The Braided Cable is probably the simplest cable to work and once you get the hang of them, they're addicting!

Don't you just love to snuggle with babies?  I know I do!  Back in 2012, I designed the Bubble Baby Sweater with comfort and warmth in mind.  I loved the texture of the stitch used and style of it when using a different color for the sleeves.  It reminds me of Leathermen jackets from High School and I think it would be a fun option to do in local school colors for baby photo props. It's a quick and easy project to work up whether it's for your own sweet little one or an opportunity to serve others.
I hope you'll enjoy this crochet pattern as much as I do.  Be sure to add it to your favorites on Ravelry by giving it a "Heart"!
