Crocheting Happiness

I'm willing to bet that you're like me when it comes to crochet. It's my happy place. It brings me peace of mind and I find so much happiness in creating something through crochet for my friends and family. It's a great accomplishment to make something handmade and see the smile on their face and know that they will love and appreciate that work for years to come.

For years, I would crochet mostly with my comfort colors. I love the deep colors of purple, burgundy, navy blue and forest green. To this day, those colors are pretty dominant in my home. As I started working on designs to appeal to others in order to sell patterns better, I stepped out of my comfort zone and designed a handful of patterns using rainbow colors. This was WAY out of my comfort zone and it's still something I have to push myself to do. However, with each rainbow crochet design, I honestly did love each end result.

What is better than just a rainbow to show love? A rainbow filled with hearts!

Sliding Loop (also known as the Magic Ring): Wrap yarn clockwise around left forefinger two times to form a ring, holding yarn tail between left thumb and middle finger, insert hook into ring, grab working end of yarn and pull through ring, chain 3, drop from finger, work additional stitches into ring to complete first round, before joining the first round, gently pull the beginning tail to partially tighten the ring. One of the two strands will tighten while the other does not. Pull the tightened yarn, this closes up the other ring strand, pull the beginning tail again to close the ring.
