Crocheting with Service in mindThank you for checking back in for Day 2 of the 10 Days of Thanksgiving Crochet Event! I hope you enjoyed reading what we were thankful for yesterday and were able to get some great patterns to work up soon. If you're new to this event, you can find the details HERE in THIS post along with entering 2 giveaways that will be open during the event for crochet patterns from each of us. Thanks again to Snappy Tots, Ambassador Crochet and Sweet Potato 3 for bringing this event together another year. Keep reading to find out what I'm thankful for today and get the daily code to receive 4 crochet patterns (1 from each designer) for just $1 each for the next 48 hours I know so many crocheters who have done a lot of service with their talent throughout the years. The art of crochet and the kindness behind the hobby is a beautiful thing to be involved with. I've seen so many projects/challenges geared toward serving those around us who may be struggling in various ways. From cancer challenges crocheting hats for cancer patience and survivors to Beanies for Bravery crocheting beanies for our service men and women to Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep for Angel Babies to a crochet scarf drive for those cold winter months, service is easy to find and thousands are involved. We all have different ways to serve others and no matter how small or how large that service is, serving others is important. I have 3 young girls who absolutely love serving their neighbors. We'll make treats and take them around to everyone we can and to my girls, it's never enough. We tend to serve the same people over and over so this year I changed it up. As we served a neighbor, I added their name to a list and the next time we made treats, I asked my girls to think of someone else (not on the list) to serve. They've enjoyed being able to reach out to others and see more happy faces. At this point in life, this is what I have to offer while teaching my girls the importance, true meaning and feeling of giving service to others. I'm extremely thankful for our many men and women who are willing to sacrifice their time, comforts and many times their lives to serve our country. It takes an amazing and selfless person to put themselves in harms way to keep us safe here at home. I'm thankful for their families too! I can't imagine how hard it is to watch their family members leave for lengths of time - always wondering if they'll make it back. Missing birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, graduations, funerals and many other family trips and traditions would be hard to do. So to those who have served to keep my family safe, THANK YOU!!! I can't say it enough but I sincerely appreciate your service! What service projects have you been involved in? Day 2 Deal

I love how you and your girls deliver treats to different neighbors. I know that must put smiles on those folk’s faces! purchase supermarket gift cards for the holidays for donation and collect food for our Church's food pantry all year round. One year a relative had excess frozen turkeys left from his job and passed them on to me and my close friends and I donated them to local needy families and our Church.
