Wrapped in Ribbon crochet stitch
Crocheting is fun!  Crocheting textured stitches is the best and creating stitches that pop takes projects to a whole new level!
If you're worried about crocheting some fun new projects like the Wrapped in Ribbon blankets, check out the video tutorial below.  It's easier than it looks!

Ribbon Stitch Tutorial Part 1

Ribbon Stitch Tutorial Part 2

What do you think?  You see, even complicated looking stitches are just simple stitches worked together to create something unique.  It's just a matter of stitch placement and once you get over the fear factor, it's a blast!
I'm not a big fan of creating a ton of appliques and then sewing them onto a project and then dealing with weaving in all the ends of said appliques.  Those are the projects that typically end up sitting in my WIP pile and I drag my feet for a year or 2 just to hide the ends so they stay tight.  I dread that process!!!  This technique of working the details into each row has been a game changer for me.  I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!
Now, what are you waiting for?  Grab your hook and yarn and have some fun!

  1. This pattern uses starting/standing stitches instead of turning chains.  If you prefer to use a turning chain, chain 1 and turn for all rows starting with a sc, chain 2 and turn for all rows starting with hdc, chain 3 and turn for all rows starting with a dc (ch-2 and ch-3 would count as stitches)
  2. Photos showing stitch placement are at the end of the pattern and are referenced as P1, P2, P3 etc.
  3. When changing colors, do so in the last step of the last stitch of the row before the color change
  4. Color sections are worked in counts of 2 or 4 rows to allow you to carry your yarn up the edge of the blanket instead of fastening off each color

Hey there!  Thank you for joining my blog here at Crafting Friends Designs. Grab your hook, some yarn and get comfy as we crochet some fun, unique and beautiful projects together.
I'm Kate and crochet is my passion.  I've been crocheting for 30+ years and as you can see from the selection of designs on my site, blankets are my obsession.  I absolutely love creating something that will wrap my love around friends and family when they're in need of comfort.
Having 4 beautiful girls of my own has also inspired many infant, toddler and child size dresses.  They are my biggest cheerleaders and have enjoyed wearing the things I've made them.
