Enchanted Garden Blanket Section 1

Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Garden Blanket CAL!  I'm excited you're joining me for another fun blanket adventure.  This blanket will offer a great variety of stitches to learn, wonderful texture and a sweet border to make it feel complete.

This week, we will work the center Diamond section which is a quick 15 rows of instructions.  I designed the center 2 sections of this blanket years ago to release as a granny square option and just never brought myself to complete it.  
It's one of those projects that was "OK" back then but was set aside in the "what do I really want to do with this" piles for better inspiration.

Now that I've had a chance to rework that square, not only did it turn into the amazing Enchanted Garden, I also have a real Granny Square blanket in the works with some slight changes.  The Granny Square option will be great for those who like to have "On the go" projects that are smaller and quicker to complete. 

For now though, let's get started on the CAL!

Here's what you'll need to know for Section 1:

You'll need a stitch marker to mark the Right side of your diamond.

Stitch Abbreviations: 
       st(s) – stitch(es)         
       ch – chain 
       sl st – slip stitch 
       yo - yarn over
       sc - single crochet
       hdc – half double crochet

Special Stitches:
hdc2tog - half double crochet 2 together: [yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop]2x, yo, pull through all 5 loops on hook

hdc3tog - half double crochet 3 together: [yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop]3x, yo, pull through all 7 loops on hook​

Notes: 

1. Place stitch markers around corner stitches as noted throughout to help keep track of corners
2. This blanket will need to be blocked
3. Instructions with *to* are to be worked once and then repeated the number of times indicated
4. Instructions with [..] are only worked the number of times indicated to the right of the bracket 

With Orchid (17 yards)
Row 1: Ch 3, 3 hdc in third chain from hook   (3 hdc)

Row 2: Turn, ch 1, 2 hdc in first stitch, hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st (5 hdc)

Row 3: Turn, ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, hdc in each stitch across to end st, 2 hdc in end st (7 hdc)

Rows 4-7: Repeat Row 3 
Note: Place a stitch marker on the end sts of Row 7 to make it easier to know where you are on Round 15
Row 4 (9 hdc), Row 5 (11 hdc), Row 6 (13 hdc), Row 7 (15 hdc)

Row 8: Turn, ch 1, hdc2tog with next 2 sts, hdc in each st to end 2 sts, hdc2tog with end 2 sts (13 hdc)

Rows 9-13: Repeat row 8   
Row 9 (11 hdc), Row 10 (9 hdc), Row 11 (7 hdc), Row 12 (5 hdc), Row 13 (3 hdc)

Row 14: Turn, ch 1, hdc3tog with all 3 sts  

Right Side
Round 15: Ch 1, working in end stitch of each row, work 8 sc evenly down to Row 7, work 3 sc around end st of Row 7, work 8 sc evenly to beginning chain loop, work 3 sc in bottom loop, work 8 sc evenly to Row 7, work 3 sc in end st of Row 7, work 8 sc evenly to top hdc3tog, work 3 sc in top of hdc3tog of previous row, sl st to beginning ch-1 to connect 

Fasten Off 

Jump to Section 2

Looking ahead, you'll need around 74 yards of yarn total.

I used 9 yards white, then 29 yards peach then 36 yards white for section 2.
