Enchanted Garden Blanket CAL Section 8 Free Crochet Pattern

Welcome to Section 8 of the Enchanted Garden Blanket CAL.  I'm thrilled that you have chosen to crochet this blanket.  It's always a joy to work a crochet-a-long with so many of you and to see the colors that others choose to work with.  I love seeing others bring my designs to life too.  We are SO close to completing this blanket.  This week, we will be working on the Braid section and next week will be our final touches with the border.

Here's what you'll need to in order to crochet this section:
2 Stitch Markers
​379 yards 4ww yarn

Stitch Abbreviations: 
       st(s) – stitch(es)         
       ch – chain 
       sl st – slip stitch 
       yo - yarn over
       hdc – half double crochet
         trtr - triple treble crochet: Yo 4x, insert hook in indicated st,
                yo, pull up a loop, (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook)5x

Notes: 

1. Place stitch markers around corner stitches as noted throughout to help keep track of corners
2. This blanket will need to be blocked
3. Instructions with *to* are to be worked once and then repeated the number of times indicated
4. Instructions with [..] are only worked the number of times indicated to the right of the bracket 
5. Photos showing stitch placement are shown below and marked as P1, P2, P3 etc.
   

Round 61:  With right side facing, attach yarn with a sl st around any corner ch-2, ch 1, (hdc, ch-2, hdc) around corner ch-2, hdc in each st across to next corner (136 hdc),* repeat from *to* 3x, sl st to beginning hdc to connect  (138 hdc per side)

Round 62: Turn, ch 1, *hdc in each st across to next corner (138 hdc), (hdc, ch 2, hdc) around corner ch-2,* repeat from *to* 3x, sl st to beginning hdc to connect   (140 hdc per side)

Round 63: Turn, ch 1, sl st in end hdc, sl st around corner ch-2, ch 5 (counts as trtr) place a stitch marker around this chain to be used later for braid, (4 trtr, ch 2, 5 trtr) around same corner ch-2, trtr in each st across to next corner (140 trtr), *(5 trtr, ch 2, 5 trtr) around corner ch-2, trtr in each st across to next corner (150 trtr),* repeat from *to* 2x, sl st to top of beginning ch-5 to connect
**Note:  The trtr is supposed to be a really long stitch (2" or slightly longer).  This will be used to create the braided section.  Be sure not to work your trtr’s to tight our you may not be able to braid properly**

Round 64: Turn, ch 1, hdc in same st as sl st, hdc in each st across to next corner (146 hdc), (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) around corner ch-2, *hdc in each st across to next corner (150), (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) around corner ch-2,* repeat from *to* 2x,  hdc in end 4 sts,  place a stitch marker in the end loop so you don’t lose stitches while working the braided section)

Braid: With right side facing, using your fingers, pick up the first trtr to the left of the beginning ch-5 of round 63, wrap it around the beginning ch-5 from back to front (see P1), twist once (see P2), *take the next trtr and pull it through the loop just made (see P3), twist once (see P4),* repeat from *to* around entire blanket, place stitch marker in last loop made, with wrong side facing, with hook in end loop of round 64, insert hook around bottom of beginning ch-5 of round 63 and insert hook from back to front (right side of blanket to back side of blanket) of end braid loop, and pull end  loop through  to wrong side of blanket, yo, pull through all loops on hook, sl st to beginning hdc of round 64 to connect

Round 65: Turn, ch 1, hdc in each st across to next corner (7 hdc), (hdc, ch 2, hdc) around corner ch-2, *hdc in each st across to next corner (154 hdc), (hdc, ch 2, hdc) around corner ch-2),* repeat from *to* 2x, hdc in each st across to beginning hdc (147 hdc), sl st to beginning hdc to connect, fasten off  (156 hdc per side)
 
Gauge: 47” (at rest)
