Crochet Video Tutorial for the FPdcHdcTog Crochet Stitch

If you love the texture of post stitches but are not a fan of the gaps they leave on the back of your project, this crochet technique can help you solve that issue!

I use this technique in many of my crochet patterns that use post stitches.  It's actually quite simple once you learn how to do it and you may find yourself using it in other patterns too.
Whether you're working a FPdcScTog or FPtrHdcTog or any other combination, the technique remains the same. If the long abbreviation gets confusing, I've created a video tutorial to walk you through the concept.
One thing to keep in mind...always follow the written instructions in the specific pattern you are working as the stitch placement may shift slightly based on the angle we want the post stitch but I have full confidence in you to do it right!

If you would like to try working this stitch in a real crochet project, go ahead and give the Boho Diamond Textured Throw pattern a try!

Crochet pattern for the Cabled Wheels Throw

This beautiful blanket is full of texture and eye catching stitches for you to crochet in your choice of colors. The center panel is worked first and the side panels are crocheted right to the center so there's not really any "piecing" together.  A special technique is used for the post stitches giving the back of the blanket a solid fabric instead of the holes that post stitches tend to leave. This crochet pattern is considered Intermediate due to the use of the post stitches though written directions are given for special stitches and I do have videos to help if needed.

Please know that I am always happy to help! If you run into a part that you're just not sure about, PLEASE contact me through your receipt here on Etsy so I can assist you.

Beginning Standing stitches: These stitches are used to start each row in place of a turning chain.

If you are unfamiliar with working these stitches, you can find a video tutorial here: https://jessieathome.com/crochet-techniques-chainless-row-turns-sc-hdc-dc/

Note: If you prefer to use turning chains, chain the amount needed for the first stitch height and then work a regular sc, hdc or dc in the very first stitch as written. Do not use the chain as a stitch.

Notes:

This pattern uses standing stitches to begin each row

Photos showing stitch placement are on the last page of pattern and are referenced as P1, P2, P3 etc.

When changing colors, do so in the last step of the last stitch of the row before the color change

Hey there!  Thank you for joining my blog here at Crafting Friends Designs. Grab your hook, some yarn and get comfy as we crochet some fun, unique and beautiful projects together.
I'm Kate and crochet is my passion.  I've been crocheting for 30+ years and as you can see from the selection of designs on my site, blankets are my obsession.  I absolutely love creating something that will wrap my love around friends and family when they're in need of comfort.
Having 4 beautiful girls of my own has also inspired many infant, toddler and child size dresses.  They are my biggest cheerleaders and have enjoyed wearing the things I've made them.
