Are you ready for another fun blanket crochet pattern? This is another one that I designed years ago that ended up in a tote when I started working full time. Originally, I made it in full pink for a baby gift. I would work on it late at night after everyone went to bed and I could watch a movie or listen to a book while crocheting without any distractions. When I finally pulled that pink baby blanket out of the tote to take photos, I noticed that the shades of pink were slightly off - Ugh!! Not to worry though, it gave me a good opportunity to crochet another one, double check the instructions and work it in stripes. This is another fun project that could be worked in a variety of colors or a rainbow of stripes and all of them would look great! What do you think? Do you prefer solid color blankets or stripes? Whether you're wanting to make a baby blanket or a king sized throw, this pattern will work for you. You can easily adjust your foundation to the size you'd like and crochet your heart away. Last year, I wanted to design something new with the Kenitra stitch but I also wanted something with texture. I played around with the stitch and came up with the Textured Ribbon Candy Stitch that I used in the Textured Ribbon Candy Christmas Tree Skirt pattern. The blanket was designed first but somehow I missed releasing it. It's a really simple repeat section that can be worked quickly once you understand the stitch placement. It has a wonderful texture and is so comfy to wrap up in! Can you believe that we're already working the border of the Secret Garden Blanket CAL? I love that we've been able to work a full sized blanket at a manageable pace and accomplish so many fun stitch sections! Rounds 56-63 are the full border instructions. This border completely compliments the blanket and makes it stand out beautifully rather than just using a basic square border stitch. When I designed the Sunny Day Blanket, I knew I wanted a fun border to really make the blanket stand out. As I searched through stitch patterns, I debated on using the border we're working now or the border that I ended up choosing for that blanket. They are so similar yet worked differently. I think one of the things that made me choose the border I did for the Sunny Day Blanket was that it didn't have as many Picots. Prepare yourself! The border we're working this week has a LOT of Picots!!! However, They really do make the border for this blanket and the final result is stunning so hang in there! This post also has quick links to instructions for each section making it easier for you to find if needed.
